Safe Communities is going to host a series of virtual no-cost introductory workshops for parents/ caregivers over the next few months.
These workshops are intended to raise awareness about Child Sexual Abuse and educate the public about the dangers lurking around in everyday places that one may not be aware of.
Registration is required. While registering, select the workshops that you would like to attend. A video recording of the workshop will be available to the registrants for two weeks after the workshop.
The workshops are as follow:
1. Social Media Navigation: Understand the dangers at your child's fingertips: porn, sexting, potential risks at friend's houses, find out how to keep your kids safe in this fast-paced digital society.
Thursday, August 11 - 6:30 to 7:30 pm
2. Child Sexual Abuse 101: Explore topics such as grooming, hugs, secrets, teaching your kids how to keep themselves safe, how to talk to your kids about private parts, play dates, sleepovers, signs and symptoms of CSA.
Saturday, September 10 - 10:00 to 11:00 am
3. Grooming: Types of offenders (i.e. pedophiles vs impulsive), narcissists, sociopaths, people with charisma gaining your trust, someone you know being inappropriate with your kids.
Tuesday, October 18 - 6:30 to 7:30 pm
