How Sexual Offenders “Groom” Children: What Every Adult Needs to Know
This workshop is intended for all adults in the congregation who want to protect children and teens in the church, family and community from sexual harm. It includes an overview of the 5-step grooming process offenders often use to engage children in a trusting relationship prior to sexually exploiting the child, information about various types of sexual offenders, and why children often don’t tell anyone what is happening to them.
This presentation can be done in a small group session, such as an adult education class or an evening/Saturday morning workshop. It can also be offered on a Sunday immediately before or after worship in the Sanctuary. Teens age 13 and older are encouraged to attend, and to discuss with parents or church staff the story of “Jenna” in the video. Not suitable for younger children.
