Dear Valued Community Member,
It is a time of new beginnings at Safe Communities! We welcome the new Executive Director, Rebecca Clark Mays, a strategic and caring leader who will grow this mighty nonprofit organization and continue to expand its presence throughout Lancaster. We are grateful for the Founder and former Executive Director, Linda Crockett:
“The child who survived against all odds grew into a woman, got help, took the evilness of her childhood and became a change agent for good.” -John Walk, Features Writer for LNP/Lancaster Online
Linda’s deep commitment to survivors and tireless energy ensuring that all children grow up feeling safe and protected are the bedrock of Safe Communities. Linda continues her commitment to Safe Communities as Founder and Consultant.
By giving to Safe Communities, you are helping maintain operational efficiency. From managing office space to investing in technology infrastructure, supporting administrative costs ensures that our highly qualified team continues to work efficiently and effectively toward our goal of ending childhood sexual abuse, supporting survivors, and educating the community.
There are several ways to have a positive impact on Safe Communities. Join us as we embark on the next chapter by raising $20,000 by July 31, to end childhood sexual abuse!

Your gift also supports our training programs. The second cohort of 11 Amish women in the PA Dutch Interpreters Project is preparing for their certification exam in September. Safe Communities will continue to train clergy on topics such as sexual ethics and boundaries, pornography, child sexual abuse, and sex trafficking. In addition, we will expand our services by offering training to leaders of other religious groups.
A donation to Safe Communities can change the life of an individual who has been traumatized by sexual abuse. As the new Director of Development and Community Engagement, I am excited to enlist your help as an ally of children and sexual abuse survivors. Please use the button link below or mail a check to: 313 W. Liberty St., Ste 242, Lancaster, PA 17603. We are counting on you!
In gratitude,
Heather Hanko, MA
