Our Director of Development and Community Engagement will help the organization to grow by increasing contributions throughout the year. They will work to cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, corporations and collaborative organizations, and meet established goals for fundraising. Grant writing, community outreach, partnership cultivation, and fundraising campaigns will be priorities, as well as utilizing social media to increase awareness of the organization. Financial updates will be provided to the board regularly. Tracking reports will be provided to the Executive Director regularly. You will be a valuable part of our small and mighty team.
Our Director of Development and Community Engagement should be dependable, goal-oriented, and results-driven. They should be able to work independently as a vital part of our team, supportive and collaborative with team members and our Board, and ready to make an impactful contribution to the community.
This is currently a part-time, non-exempt position of 20-25 hours a week at $19.50 an hour; it will grow into a full-time position. Flexible business hours Monday-Friday. Occasional evenings and weekends as needed for meetings and fundraising events. Hybrid option available.

Responsibilities
- Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major gift donors and sponsors including individuals, corporations, and/or foundations to help achieve our organization's overall mission and goals
- Grant research, writing, and target recommendations to Executive Director
- Outreach, engagement, and partnership cultivation with diverse faith and community organizations
- Fund raising campaigns (currently Spring and End-of-Year)
- Special event coordination with Executive Director
- Writing content for letters, social media posts, and email solicitation for defined donor segments; creating timelines for mailings/distributions and coordinating mailings with Office Manager
- Track all fundraising projects and provide scheduled progress reports to team
- Prepare Financial updates for Board meetings/attend meetings with Executive Director
- Prepare LOUs for SC consulting projects/independent contractors as needed
- Prepare and maintain development calendar for grant/campaigns
- Attend networking events beneficial to foundation and donor cultivation
- Attend Board meetings with Executive Director
- Develop partnerships with other organizations for potential collaborative initiatives
Qualifications
- Some experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, grant writing, or sales preferred
- Dedicated to the mission and vision of Safe Communities of preventing child sexual abuse and supporting adult survivors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills to keep projects on time and on track
- Comfortable asking donors, sponsors, and other stakeholders for financial contributions
- An innovator: creating new ways to elevate Safe Communities partnerships and donor relationships
- Confident in public speaking and communicating with news and media sources
- High degree of accuracy in all tasks, attention to detail
- Joining our team in supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Commitment to serve the underserved, vulnerable populations – adult survivors of abuse
- Professional appearance and demeanor – ability to interact with people from all walks of life
- Experience with cloud-based donor and accounting data base systems a plus
- Familiarity with MS applications using MS OneDrive as shared platform, donor CRM, Constant Contact a plus
